Arathusa Safari Lodge, Kruger National Park South Africa African Holiday Tour Sabie Sands Elephant Lion Hippo Buffalo Cheetah Leopard Game Water Birds

HOTEL REVIEWS - KRUGER NATIONAL PARK SOUTH AFRICA, SAFARI TOUR
Arathusa - from the Northern Sotho word “Reathusa”, which means “to help one another” - is an owner-managed luxury 5-star game lodge in the Sabie Sands sector of the Kruger National Park. It's a select lodge that accepts only 20 guests at a time. Luxury thatched-roof chalets, each with a king-sized four-poster bed and ensuite, are built on the banks of a big lake where animals come to drink. This includes the Big 5: lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. Guests can watch from the comfort of their verandas. A herd of hippos wallowing in the lake provides round-the-clock entertainment. There are no TV or telephones in rooms but calls, emails and faxes can be made from reception. Game drives depart morning and late afternoon; guided walks may also be arranged. Look out for the elusive leopard - Arathusa is famed for its leopard sightings as about 14 of the territorial cats are found in the area — six are seen regularly, including a female named Safari often spotted around camp.

My husband and I stayed at Arathusa in Feb 08 for 2 nights of our honeymoon. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. All the staff were very friendly and the safari guides were brilliant, we were lucky to spot the big 5 in our first drive! The food we had was also delicious. Having discovered we were on honeymoon, we returned from our evening safari on the second evening to a private candlelit dinner on our patio area. They had also laid a rose petal path from the main oor through to the bathroom, where there was chilled champagne waiting and a nice hot bubble bath too! Lovely touches! Only downside is the pool looked rather murky so we didn't venture in... shame as it was so hot we could have done with cooling off in there!

Great location overlooking the waterhole. Very nice accommodation but no better than Moholoholo. Fantastic game drives. Open topped Toyota land cruiser that went off road to get brilliant views of "Big 5". Knowledgeable and friendly game driver. Wonderful experience. Superb animal viewing, especially for leopards.Great landscape, animal life and fantastic off road safari at Arathusa. Always felt safe and in good hands.

A superb camp and we had an excellent chalet, right at the front overlooking the water-hole. Ranger and tracker excellent - both extremely knowledgeable, helpful and good fun to be with. Game viewing, with plenty of off-road, was magic! Chalet did have a problem with the basin however - there was no plug and even if there were, it could not have been used because the waste fixing was not complete so the sink could not be filled. Pain when shaving and washing. Reported it but they said it would need new parts!!! Endangered Species Centre - well worth the visit and very interesting.
