HOTELS REVIEW - SHAKALAND, EMPANGENI KWAZULU NATAL

This hotel was built on the set of the movies of Shaka Zulu and John Ross, and overlooks Umhlatuze Lake. There are 55 traditional looking beehive huts, all with en-suite bathrooms and shower. There are no TVs, radios or telephones in the rooms, in order to accentuate the authentic feeling. Other facilities include, conference facilities, babysitting service, swimming pool, curio shop and restaurant. There are many activities available, which include two Zulu culture experiences: the Nandi Program which runs for three hours from noon; or the two-part Shaka Program, which starts in the early evening, then carries on in the early morning. Children are welcome.
