The five-star St James of Knysna is an exclusive, owner-run, Country House hotel on the shores of the Knysna Lagoon. Suites and rooms have views across the lagoon to Knysna Heads or over the three-acre gardens. Whether you stay in the Manor or the Courtyard, all rooms and suites have en-suite bathrooms, mini bars, tea/coffee-making facilities, satellite TV, safes, irons and ironing boards, direct-dial telephones, bath robes and hairdryers. International adaptors can be requested from reception. The four Superior Suites - three of which are lagoon-facing and all with balconies - are on the upper floor. There are three Deluxe lagoon-facing suites and two Junior Suites around the Mediterranean courtyard with a private swimming pool. St James of Knysna offers guests the use of its powerboat for water-skiing and sightseeing cruises and canoes. Recreational facilities available at the hotel include boating picnics, sundowner cruises, water-skiing, swimming, games room, shopping and tavern tours. Activities in the area include forest walks, golf, squash, bowls, gym, deep-sea fishing and sailing, whale-watching (in season, June to December) and horse-riding. Children under 12 years of age are not allowed.
