HOTELS REVIEW - ARUMERU RIVER LODGE
The Arumeru River Lodge, only 35 minutes away from Kilimajaro Airport and 15 minutes from Arusha Town, has views of both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The lodge is spread out over 12 acres of landscaped gardens next to the Arumeru River. The main building houses the restaurants and lounge and also has internet and fax facilities. The terraced restaurant overlooks the heated swimming pool and serves a variety of cuisine. There are 10 chalets spread throughout the garden, each with their own verandah and en suite bathroom and decorated in traditional African style.

HOTELS REVIEW - THE ARUSHA HOTEL

This hotel was originally built in 1894 and has recently been renovated. Set in tropical landscaped gardens, the hotel can be used for weddings and other outdoor events. The Arusha Hotel has 86 rooms, 57 of which are standard rooms, 25 are deluxe rooms and 4 are suites. Every room has airconditioning, satellite television, electronic safe and wireless internet access. There are three different restaurants on site as well as a cocktail bar and casino.

Arusha Coffee Lodge is situated in the largest coffee plantation in Tanzania. The lodge has copied the design of the original plantation homes. Accommodation is available in 18 plantation houses, all with private patios, living rooms, fireplaces, en suite bathrooms, coffee grinder and perculator. The restaurant offers a range of African cuisine as well as an ala carte menu and there is a lounge with large fireplace and bar. Internet access and room service is also available at the lodge.

Bawe Tropical Island is a thirty minute boat trip from Zanzibar's Stone Town. There are no air conditioners or televisions on the island. There is electricity and in addition to the main restaurant, there are a number of dining options available such as barbeques and private beach dining on request. Accommodation is available in 15 private cottages all on the beachfront and with views of the Indian Ocean. There is a freshwater swimming pool, private beach, sun beds, diving, fishing and snorkeling facilities.

The Sultan suites are situated on private compounds with access to a private beach as well as a butler service. There is a pool bar and four different restaurants offering a variety of cuisine. There are numerous activities on offer, including watersports and big game fishing, sports facilities and a spa.

Breezes Beach Club is located on the south-east coast of Zanzibar. Accommodation is available in individual private houses scattered around the gardens of the resort, divided into three categories of deluxe, suite and standard. All rooms are have air conditioning and en suite bathrooms and come equipped with a refrigerator, safe deposit box and hair dryer. There are four restaurants and five bars. The Fangipani Spa offers a variety of beauty treatments and there are facilities for yoga and meditation as well as aerobics and a fitness centre on site. There are a number of watersports on offer, including scuba diving at a PADI certified centre and windsurfing. The resort also offers a Swahili day tour and is child friendly.

The Crater Forest Tented Lodge is situated just outside of Karatu Town on the edge of the Ngorongoro Tropical Forest and borders the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lodge is built on the Kirin Coffee Estate on what used to be cultivated lands and consists of 15 tented rooms all of which have views over the forest. All the rooms have a private verandah and an en suite bathroom with hot shower. In addition to game drives and animal viewing, the lodge also offers mountain biking in the numerous trails around the lodge, cultural tours with Masaai guides, tours of the coffee plantation and forest walks.

Grumeti River Camp is on the banks of the Grumeti River in the western area of the Serengeti National Park. The area in which the camp is situated provides for fantastic viewing of the local animals, including zebra, hippo and crocodiles. The lodge is not far from Lake Victoria - the largest lake in Africa - and safaris both to Lake Victoria and through the park are offered at the camp. Accommodation is in traditional tents with large beds and en suite bathrooms with private outdoor showers.
