Elephant Valley Lodge Hotel Reviews Chobe National Park Botswana Safari Holiday Tour Accommodation Swimming Pool Wildlife River Cruises Game Elephant

HOTELS REVIEW - ELEPHANT VALLEY LODGE CHOBE RIVER BOTSWANA

Elephant Valley Lodge is situated in the Lesoma Valley which lies in the heart of the Kasane Forest Reserve, adjacent to the Chobe National Park. Lodge accommodation is provided in 20 luxury ‘meru styled’ tents, which lie beneath a forest of sturdy knob thorns in which the largest colony of white back vultures occur. Each of the tents has twin beds, en-suite shower and wc, mini safe and fan. Facilities include open guest areas and a refreshing swimming pool. The camp perimeter is fenced so elephant move around the camp boundary to and from the Chobe River. Activities include river cruises and open top game drives in the Chobe Game Reserve.

. .. off we went, my 3 teenaged boys my husband and I to the Elephant Valley Lodge for the first leg of our 2 week safari…not only was this a great deal pricewise .. it is also a marvelous location. more importantly, this lodge sits directly next to the only watering whole before the Chobe river . What this means is that you could never leave your lodge and still have an excellent game viewing experience. While sitting on our decks and at mealtime you look over the watering hole and see families of elephants, warthogs, wild dogs, impalas, and a variety of other species who stop by for a drink. For this reason, this is probably one of the few safari camps that would be good for the older traveler who is reluctant to sit through the rugged game drives…. Tents are very clean and nice. They are not as luxuriously appointed as some of the other lodges we visited (ie. no fancy upholstery, etc.), however a very nice touch is that they provide good quality linens, comfortable beds and pillows and they heat the beds for you during dinner so that you crawl into a warm bed to the sounds of the wildlife just ouside your door. …. They also have an observation deck which allows you to sit quite close to the watering hole for those that want to get nearer to the animals.... One of the best was following a leopard at sundown and watching it "make a kill". The wildlife was incredibly abundant and we saw pretty much everything (giraffes, zebras, impalas, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, hippos, crocs, bufallo, ostrich, vultures, hundreds of species of birds including the African fishing eagle, baboons, monkeys, and of course many many elephants). The only thing we didn't see were rhinos as the poaching has caused them to be relocated. We did not see lions until we went to the Okavango Delta, but there are many in this region as well. One of the nice things about this lodge, too , is that they provide walking safaris for the more adventurous and night drives… recommend that anyone visiting this lodge take the boat cruises as well as the game drives.. On our boat cruise, an elephant bull entered the water right near us and went for a swim.
