Jack's Camp Hotel Reviews Kalahari Desert Botswana Safari Holiday Accommodation Lodge Bushmen Makgadikgadi Game Wildebeest Zebra Migration Wilderness

REVIEW - JACK'S CAMP MAKGADIKGADI PANS BOTSWANA
Jack's Camp is a classic desert safari camp in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in the Kalahari Desert, Botswana. The camp has 10 spacious canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms, indoor/outdoor showers, set in a palm grove. There is no electricity. The camp offers a desert experience, walks with bushman trackers who link culture and the natural environment. Qualified staff guide game walks and drives. Salt plains look barren but teem with wildlife and birds. Activities include trips into the salt plains on all-terrain, 4-wheeled motorcycles to explore remote archaeological sites. In the wet season, the pans fill with water creating a wetland, which attracts huge flocks of flamingos as well an annual zebra and wildebeest migration in southern Africa. Other activities include bird watching and quad biking. Children over the age of 4 years welcome. What did you think?

"Great visit"
My wife and I just got back from Jack's Camp and had a wonderful time. The facilities are great, very colonial east africa. The tents have no electricity and may not be for everyone. They are very nice and the food is great. The real attractions at Jack's are not animals but the pans. If you go, stay 3 nights and do the quad biking. It's a wonderful experience. They also offer a Bushman walk with real Bushmen. Don't miss it!We thought the staff was outstanding, the food great and drinks everywhere. The menu is fixed, but they will accomodate special diets with notice. We visited 3 camps in Botswana and thought Jack's was the most special and would recommend to anyone who can get by without electric lights. Jack's is a blend of 5 star luxury and no electricty. I would also recommend the cooler time of year.
