Sussi and Chuma Safari Lodge Hotel Review Victoria Falls Zambia Holiday Luxury Tour Accommodation Elephant Swimming Pool Game White Water Rafting

HOTELS REVIEW – SUSSI AND CHUMA ZAMBEZI RIVER VICTORIA FALLS
Sussi and Chuma is a luxury 5-star riverbank hideaway just 10 minutes upstream from the Victoria Falls, named after David Livingstone's two faithful stretcher bearers. Accommodation at this exclusive lodge consists of 10 luxury tree-houses, built into the canopy of giant ebony trees that line the bank of the Zambezi River, all with en-suite bathrooms with shower & bath, a private viewing deck, mini bar, mosquito nets, overhead fans and tea/coffee making facilities. The main lodge features a raised bar/lounge deck, open air dining area, swimming pool and lawns sweeping down to the water’s edge. Wildlife, such as hippopotamus and elephant, is likely to wander through the lodge grounds at any time. Activities include visits to Victoria Falls, guided bush walks, canoeing, sunset cruises, cultural visits to nearby villages, white water rafting, bunji jumping, elephant safaris and much more.

Sept 2006 ...The photos on the internet look great, but the place is in disrepair...needs a lot of work...the food is plain and nothing compared to food we had in the bush at other lodges/camps. It is the type of chicken and rice combo I recall making in college. On the plus side, the staff is great and very organized - you have a guide assigned to you you plans are your activities, waking you up and driving you at the appropriate times. They know you by name and are very accomodating. They took us to private dinners and lunches to placate us, but unfortunately you can't make up for the poor food. The lodge also overlooks the Zambezi River and there is a wonderful deck to sit on and have drinks. The rooms are large and well appointed, but again, things are falling apart.
As of the time of writing, we understand new management has taken over to spruce the place up... We feel badly giving this place such a poor review, given how the staff went out of its way for us, but we did spend a lot to stay here ($650 night for 2) and would expect far better conditions and dinner served for us, rather than buffet style.
