The reserve is located in the Central Berg region of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site. The camp is on a plateau, between the valleys, offering views of the surrounding areas. There are 45 chalets, each with different sleeping arrangements and all with fully equipped kitchens, en-suite bathrooms, lounge, and dining area. There is also a honeymoon suite available. Facilities include a museum, shop, restaurant and pub, conference centre, and wellness centre. Activities take the form of visiting prehistoric rock art sites, day walks, bird watching, the Lammergeyer hide which is a raptor viewing venue, trout fishing, river swimming, game viewing and ice climbing. Some activities are seasonal.
