HOTELS REVIEW – FUGITIVES DRIFT LODGE & GUEST HOUSE DRAKENSBERG

Located near Rorke’s Drift, the four star Fugitives Lodge is situated on the site of the original Rattray homestead. The Lodge is the original establishment, built by David and Nicky Rattray in 1989 and houses the majority of the memorabilia in the central lounge and dining room area. There are eight spacious en-suite rooms all with a private veranda. A feature of the Lodge is the beautiful shady, well-established garden and a large swimming pool situated on the lip of the Buffalo River Gorge. The annex cottage consists of three twin rooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room. The Guest House is 4 star and situated in a game reserve. Accommodation is in six cottages with en-suite facilities and private verandas. No children under the age of 6 years. There is also a swimming pool at the guest house. Activities include tours to Mangeni Falls, Masondo, Blood River and the site where the Prince Imperial was killed. There are also walks, fishing and horse riding. No cell phone reception. Malaria free area.
