Shearers Lodge Hotel Review Leeuvenbosch Malaria Free Amakhala Game Reserve Garden Route South Africa Safari Drive River Cruise Elephants Chapel

HOTEL REVIEW – SHEARERS LODGE AMAKHALA GAME RESERVE ADDO

In 1926 the Fowlds family began wool farming on Leeuwenbosch farm. Sheep farming continued until 1996 when the farm was converted into the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve. The old shed, in which sheep were shorn, has been converted into 4 luxury en-suite rooms, 3 twins and 1 honeymoon suite, surrounded by indigenous gardens. The old stables on Leeuwenbosch were converted into a family chapel. Activities include game drives, river cruises and elephant walks and rides. What did you think?

Amakhala was awesome! We were the only guests at Leeuwenbosch and we were spoilt rotten. We got extremely close to the animals, our guide was excellent, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. The hosts were lovely people and we really felt as though we were guests in their home. The
food was outstanding, and again, I would have no hesitation in recommending this lodge. Sarah
