Vilanculos Beach Lodge Hotel Reviews Mozambique Holiday Tour Accommodation Scuba Diving Fishing

HOTELS REVIEW - VILANCULOS BEACH MOZAMBIQUE SCUBA DIVING FISHING
Vilanculos Beach Lodge is a luxury 4-star resort at Vilanculos, near Bazaruto & Benguera. Unfortunately the lodhge was hit by cyclone Fabio leaving damage behind, the resort will be re-building soon and we will advise once the lodge has re-opened.
What did you think?

For our honeymoon we chose to see animals in Manyaleti Reserve in South Africa and then fly to Mozambique and spend rest of ou trip there on the beach. We couldnt have chosen any better place, the lodge is small enough for staff to remember your name, right on a beach, has a little swimming pool and the best staff ever. We stayed for 8 nights and did a dhow trip with snorkeling, 3 days scuba diving, explored the village, ate in 6 various restaurants and met some great people. The guests came from various backgrounds, we met doctors from Belgium, honeymooners from France, Germany and South Africa, an American couple on a post safari trip extension... It is not cheap but the price is lower than Benguerra Lodge or Bazaruto Lodge and you are not trapped on an island where a small beer costs 20$. The Lodge is some 30 minutes walk from the village on the beach and the Lodge will organize transport and charge you some 5$ rount trip. On our bill at the end of our stay we found that some of the trips were not charged as the Lodge needed the driver to go to town anyway.
There are several good restaurants around, many of them will pick you up and drive you back to your hotel if you eat at their place.
The chalets are lovely, very rustic no air con, the bathroom is really nice, all is simple but very clean and the grounds are so that the chalets get a lot of privacy.
Of our 9 days there we did not spend a single full day in the resort, you can go fishing, diving, snorkeling, island hopping, to the village and market.
Vilanculos village does not have tourist shops, I forgot the bottom of my bikini at home and had to wear a one piece or bikini top with shorts. but the place is very relaxed and it did not matter.
Overall the loveliest place and resort we could have chosen. Sadly, the Lodge has been destroyed in cyclone early this year but I heard they will slowly rebuild it so let us wait and see. Hopefully they will keep the rustic and simple atmosphere.
