HOTELS REVIEW - MOPANE BUSH LODGE
A four star, small bush retreat of African Renaissance design nestled in the Mopane bushveld. It is situated on Mapesu Nature Reserve, a 6000-hectare game farm in the Limpopo Valley, adjacent to the Mapungubwe National Park. There are eight twin-bedded thatched chalets with en-suite bathroom, each situated in their own kraal with a veranda and an additional outdoor shower. All chalets have a view over the Mopane Bushveld. One chalet is wheelchair friendly. All rooms have a safe, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities and a laundry service. The bathrooms have spacious showers, large towels, shelf space and a 110v/220v shaver plug. Activities include walking, cycling, bird watching and game drives. Dinner is served either in the boma, seated around the fire under the stars, or in the dining room or lapa around the pool or in the bush. The lodge also has a swimming pool with waterfall and martini seating beside the bar. There is a lounge with a small library and fireplace. Guests can view giraffe, eland, waterbuck, gemsbok, kudu, zebra, blue wildebeest, impala, bushbuck, duiker and steenbok. Air conditioned conference facilities are available and can accommodate up to 32 delegates cinema style. Other activities include bird watching with over 400 species to be seen, a visit to Messina Baobab Nature Reserve - home to hundreds of large baobab trees and sable antelope, visiting the world’s oldest dated exposed rock and a visit to the Ratho Crocodile Farm.
