It's always possible to find some aspects of a hotel to complain about, but at the Lord Charles it was difficult. We spent two weeks here, and it felt like we were at home, only with staff and sunshine. It's about forty minutes from Cape Town, on the edge of the wine district and twenty minutes from a wonderful coast road. The bedroom was good, maid service excellent, and the whole ambience of the hotel very relaxing. The best thing was the attitude of the staff, who were very professional, friendly and helpful. Food in both restaurants was good, too. Ground floor rooms are best as they have a patio. I would recommend this hotel, and its location, for anyone wanting a holiday in the Western Cape. And the complaints? No ice machines. No irons and ironing boards available - even for loan - in the bedrooms. And if they're the only things I could complain about after two weeks, you can tell how good the hotel was.
