HOTELS REVIEW – ISANDLWANA LODGE DRAKENSBERG

This four star, twelve bedroomed lodge, is situated on one of the most remarkable historic sites in Southern Africa and overlooks the Isandlwana battlefield. The Lodge is carved into the iNyoni Rock formation on top of which the Zulu commander stood during the battle of Isandlwana on January 22, 1879. There are thirteen en-suite rooms equipped with showers (no baths) with tea and coffee making facilities, telephones, electric / gas heaters, room safes and a private balcony. The Hotel Restaurant has a set buffet menu and bar. There are two conference venues (1 boardroom – max 8 delegates, 1 meeting room - max 16 delegates), equipped with flip charts, whiteboard and markers, video cassette recorder and TV monitors. Activities include hiking trails, daytrips in Zululand, Talana museum, the Bloodriver, Mangeni Falls and the Prince Imperial monument. There is a library in the lounge and a swimming pool built in amongst the rocks.
