Incredible find. We reserved a room in Grande Roche only for 2 nights, since we knew from previous experiences in South Afrfica that there wasn't much in Paarl. We have since discovered that Grande Roche is one very good reason to visit the town. From the moment we parked our car, the service was superb. The check-in procedure, served with a smile and a glass of South African sparkling wine, was faultless. We had lunch and dinner on the first day at the hotel, and this was the best food we have had in South Africa for many years. The service all round was more than excellent. The staff were courteous and could not have done more. Breakfast was indeed another highlight, served on the terrace, overlooking the vineyards and the mountains in the distance. The Namibian oysters were outstanding. The pool area at the hotel was a little shaded and one had to move around a little to keep in the sun, but it was quiet. The duplex room we were in was a little tired, but the bathroom products (Molton Brown) were well stocked and delightful. All in all a wonderful stay, we shall return next year for a little longer.
