HOTELS REVIEW - PROTEA CAPE CASTLE HOTEL CAPE TOWN
The 3-star Cape Castle Hotel is situated fairly close to the Waterfront in cosmopolitan Green Point with its many clubs, live shows, restaurants and pubs. Cape Castle has 67 fully serviced, stylishly appointed apartments boasting panoramic views of the Waterfront, the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain and the city centre. The suites are airconditioned with en-suite bathroom, lounge, dining area and kitchen. Facilities include a restaurant, a rim-flow pool overlooking the Waterfront, bar and braai (barbecue) area.

Stayed 3 nights in superior room on the 7th floor.The apartment was less attractive than the pics we had seen had suggested. Room was very basic indeed. 2nd Protea hotel we had stayed in during our trip and again another disapointment. Room safe did not work (do they ever at a protea??) Balcony very tiny enough for one person to stand on. Air con was old. Very noisy due to main road running outside and windows would not close tight. Sofa was the worst, old and very uncomfortable. No duvet but sheets and blankets (again old fashioned). Parking 30 rand per night in hotels underground car park not for the faint hearted as the space is tight to say the least. You will hit the under side of your car on exit due to high incline. ... Swimming pool, smallest I have ever seen and would not have used as its overlooking a busy road. (car fumes).Very over priced indeed.Good point: location, few mins drive from V&A water front. Nice staff.
