HOTELS REVIEW - PARKES MANOR KNYSNA GARDEN ROUTE SOUTH AFRICA
The four-star Parkes Manor in Knysna is a country guesthouse overlooking the Knysna lagoon and Knysna Heads on the Garden Route. The manor has nine spacious bedrooms each decorated with a unique character and colour scheme. All en-suite bathrooms have separate bath and shower facilities. The manor has a swimming pool. There are three room types from which to choose: Premier Room (one), Lagoon Facing (three) and Standard (five). Each room extends onto a veranda where guests may relax and enjoy the open air. All rooms have en-suite shower and bath, mini bar facilities, under-floor heating systems, satellite TV, safety deposit boxes, telephone, alarm clock radio, hair-dryers, coffee and tea-making facilities and bathrobes. Local attractions include Featherbed Nature Reserve, Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe steam train, Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, Birds of Eden (the Garden Route's free-flight bird sanctuary) and Knysna Elephant Park. Activities in the region include bird-watching, hiking, fishing, golf, paragliding, rock-climbing, bicycle touring, canoeing/kayaking, horse-riding, sailing, dolphin- and whale-watching (from June to December), surfing and more.

Our least favourite hotel. Service was not good and we felt rather isolated as we were not in town

We found the lodge was a little too formal for children. Enjoyed elephant park, birds and snake park and day trip to Oudtshoorn
