John and I got married on 6th January 2007. We flew out to South Africa to do a weeks safari at Jocks Safari Lodge which was fantastic!
We then flew to Marlin Lodge for a week's diving. When we flew into Vinanculos we flew over the sea and I can't describe the colour of the sea. It was beautiful. Just like in a magazine. White sandy spits with clear blue waters, wonderful. Marlin Lodge itself is situated on Benguerra island. As you arrive by speed boat you can see all of the thatched huts dotted along the beach. Each one set back with it's own decked walkway to the beach, and a balcony with a hammock! The main lodge is beautiful. All wooden and thatched. The bar is large and comfortable and the dining area is spacious with beatuiful views of the sea and the swimming pool. The rooms are fabulous. You can lie in the 4 poser beds and watch the sea lapping the sand! The bathroom is open plan and in the Luxury Chalets you get an outside shower too! The rooms are spacious and comfortable with air conditioning too, which they don't have at Benguerra Lodge!!! The food was wonderful too, they move you round each night so you sit somewhere different. We had supper on the beach twice with candles lighting the way and a bonfire to add atmosphere!
The Staff are so friendly and helpful. They are always smiling, always smart and good fun. The spa is great, and Tamryn is wonderful at finding the right treatments for you. We did a couples massage where she teaches you how to massage each other! The diving is out of this world. The sea was 30oc even at 30m. The vis wasnt' brilliant but that's because it was Whale shark season. We missed them unfortunately! It was turtle soup down there though, with at least 10 turtles per dive! Lots of sharks, Devil and eagle rays! Really fantastic and we have been to lots of places. We were so happy to see that the coral is thriving too. The only problem was the watersports. The windsurfers are tied together with string! but the Cat was good fun and there are canoes etc. The staff make sure you have something booked everyday, whether it is snorkling or a private picnic! We will defnintely be back and can highly recommend it!
Wonderful!
