HOTELS REVIEW - DE OPSTAL COUNTRY LODGE OUDTSHOORN AFRICA
The De Opstal Country Lodge and Restaurant is located in the Schoemanshoek Valley near Oudtshoorn on South Africa’s Garden Route. The lodge comprises a group of Little Karoo farm buildings: old stables, wagon house, farmhouse, share-cropper's cottage, barn and bungalow. The buildings, restored and fitted with modern conveniences, are set in garden surroundings. The lodge has a saltwater swimming pool, restaurant, lounge and bar area. Weddings and receptions can be staged at De Opstal; wedding advisor, menu testing and preferential accommodation rates can be organised for wedding guests, along with a complimentary bridal suite. The lodge also has a conference facility for up to 30 delegates. Some of the Oudtshoorn region’s many attractions are: the Cango Caves (tours available), ostrich show farms (guided tours available), Klein Karoo National Arts festival (annual gathering in March-April), a cheetah breeding station (one of the only two in the southern hemisphere), croc farms, Vrede and Meiringspoort falls, as well as hiking and biking and much more. Picnic lunches can be organised on request.
