HOTELS REVIEW - SAMBURU SERENA LODGE
320 kilometres north of Nairobi and in the land of the Samburu pastorolists (relatives of the famous Maasai) lies Samburu National Reserve. Samburu Serena Lodge was one of the first lodges to be established in the northern region of the reserve and is home to leopard, lion, elephant and crocodile, all of which can be viewed from the private balconies overlooking the Uaso Nyiro river. Each of the 62 cottages, rooms and suites have en suite bathrooms and private verandahs with views of the river. Daily meals can be enjoyed at the open sided dining room where the local wildlife can be viewed at the same time. The crocodile bar overlooks the river and provides for night viewing of the local crocodiles and the occasional leopard. There are daily performances by the local Sambaru dancers and beauty treatments including massages are also available. Activities on offer include bush dinners by moonlight, guided camel treks, sundowners whilst viewing the local wildlife, picnics, nature trails and game drives. The lodge has full housekeeping services and is child friendly, offering babysitting services on request as well as a children's menu.
