Eagles Nest Chalets Hotel Reviews Namibia Holiday Tour Accommodation Barbeque Game Watching Walking Trails

HOTELS REVIEW - EAGLES NEST CHALETS
Located on the Klein Aus Vista reserve in Southern Namibia. Bungalows spread out over a hillside, each with en-suite bathrooms with a flush toilet, basin, shower, soap dispensers and bath towels. Furnished with wooden and bamboo furniture. A television can be arranged. All of the bungalows are stone-built with a private veranda, barbecue and bar. Though all of the rooms are original, there are some that stand out for special mention, namely The Boulder, Desert Vista and The Rock. The Boulder is two-interlinked chalets, well suited for families travelling together. Desert Vista backs onto the rock of the mountain. The Rock is built higher than the rest of the accommodation with a large rock in the middle of the room. The main lounge and reception is located at the Desert Horse Inn. Meals can be enjoyed at the restaurant located at the Desert Horse Inn or privately in own accommodation. Barbecue packs and breakfast platters can be ordered for self-catering purposes. Each bungalow kitchen is equipped with basic kitchen appliances i.e. cutlery and crockery. Activities include game watching and walking trails.

For me Eagle’s Nest at Aus Klein Vista (along with Vingerklip) were the best hotels. The rooms, hidden up in the hills, built into the rock face itself were magic and the view and solitude were superb. Food was good and we managed to get quite close to the wild horses at Garub.

Went to fossil farm (near Keetmanshoop) on the journey which provided an amusing and interesting diversion. Rooms at Canon Lodge were well spaced out and pleasant. The only problem was finding them as the path labelling was non-existent and their site map very confusing. Not a place for anyone who cannot walk far. The staff was trying too hard which made it a little oppressive and service was variable. Superb salads, however, from their own self sufficiency area and the rest of food fine. Canyon impressive.
