HOTEL REVIEW - VAKONA FOREST LODGE
Vakona Forest Lodge is situated in Madagascar's Preinet rainforest reserve - also known as Analamazaotra Special Reserve and the Special Reserve of Indri d'Analamazaotra. The reserve is famous for its troops of Indri lemurs - the largest of the the lemur family - and is situated roughly 140 kilometres from the capital city and about 20 kilometres south of Mantadia National Park. This family-run hotel has 10 twin/double rooms and 14 family bungalows. Every room has a private bathroom, heater, safe, mini bar and terrace from which to enjoy the forest views. The hotel's restaurant offers a variety of cuisine, such as Chinese, French, Italian and traditional Malagasy and has vegetarian options. Additional activities on offer include mountain biking through the reserve, canoeing, visits to the Lemur Islands, squash, ping pong, horse riding, bird watching and walking safaris.
