Stiltz Lodge Hotel Reviews, Holiday Tour Accommodation Namibia Swakopmund Trails Birdlife Nature Drives

HOTELS REVIEW – WATERBERG CAMP , SWAKOPMUND, NAMIBIA
The Stiltz perches over the Swakop River mouth – more a tidal lagoon – and looks out over the Atlantic Ocean and the northern limits of the Great Sand Sea of the Namib Desert. Minutes' walk from Swakopmund, the small and eclectic lodge offers a tranquil and reviving experience in a convenient location.

Though it is a dry riverbed the mouth is fed by the tide and a feeding and breeding ground for many species of bird including pelicans, plovers and terns. The lodge faces south and looks out to sea and the picturesque dunes across the river. Each room is a separate unit with quirky interiors, en suite bathrooms and private balconies. The rooms are linked by elevated walkways and the main lodge is multi-dimensional wood and glass construction and the scene of a hearty breakfast feast.

The drive to Swakopmund across the Namib desert was one of the best parts of the trip. The vast size and stunning colours were unbelievable. We managed to find the famed lichen fields in the desert which also provided a new experience for Jaco. Stiltz hotel fine, very attractive rooms and best cooked breakfast of trip. Lovely fish dinners at two restaurants and an interesting town. Boat trip from Walvis Bay more enjoyable than expected - recommended.
