HOTELS REVIEW - VICTORIA FALLS SAFARI LODGE ZIMBABWE
Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is a highly regarded 4-star lodge on the Zimbabwe side of the falls. The lodge is set high on a plateau, which forms a natural boundary to the unfenced Zambezi National Park, and is just 4 kilometres from the majestic Victoria Falls. This deluxe 72-roomed African Lodge prides itself on hospitality and food rivalled only by uninterrupted views and magnificent sunsets. Created with a keen eye for detail; hardwoods, thatch, vibrant colours - the effect is awe inspiring. Each bedroom has its own balcony, air-conditioning and modern bathroom. In the Buffalo Bar, Makuwa-Kuwa Restaurant and pool deck guests will enjoy not only the wonderful views, but excellent service from friendly Zimbabwean staff. An on-site waterhole attracts a wide variety of game, including elephants, buffalo, impala and kudu. Activities include guided tiger fishing trips, sunset river cruises, Game drives and much more.

We stayed here for 2 nights. When I read about this hotel in the travel brochures, it always listed the watering hole as a feature. Whilst this did sway my view as to booking here - I don't think I imagined that I would actually see any game visit. We had just arrived, sat at the bar for a drink and ever so gracefully down strolled an elephant for a drink - I nearly fell off my seat!!
From the greeting as you arrive, the staff are very friendly here.
The rooms are quite authentic which is what I was looking for - I have to say that out of our whole stay in South Africa this was the most insects that I saw. We shared the bed with a stick insect for the 2 nights - no matter how many times we placed him back on the balcony he managed to find his way back in, under our mosquito net.The buffet breakfast had a great selection to choose from that differed daily and my husband even managed to find the spot where you can make your own bloody marys at breakfast! We also went to the BOMA for dinner one night - whilst this was good, unfortunately there were alot of large groups that tended to take over the area etc. It was a good chance however to try a variety of game meat.A lovely little pool - not sure how great it would be in the summer if everybody wanted to use it.We felt perfectly safe and secluded from the outside world whilst we were here, with a short drive to the magnificant Falls and a perfect view of the watering hole.
Liked: View to watering hole
Disliked: Insects
